National Day of Prayer

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting all Americans to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Open Door Baptist Church coordinates each year with the national organizing committee for the day’s prayer event.

We will be joining our hearts together at 9:00 AM on Thursday, May 4th 2023 to pray for our nation. We welcome everyone from the community to do the same.

The National Day of Prayer (NDP) Task Force exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. The Task Force represent a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on the understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.

Vacation Bible School—June 5-9, 2023

Vacation Bible School, June 5-9, 2023

We are engaged in an epic battle for the hearts and minds of our youth. Every day, they’re bombarded with lies about who they are, who their Creator is, and where their salvation comes from. Thankfully, God has given his children armor to wear in this battle between truth and lies, light and darkness, good and evil. During “Keepers of the Kingdom,” your kids will learn how they can be part of God’s kingdom through salvation in Jesus, and they will be equipped with the armor of God to become Keepers of the Kingdom and stand strong in today’s battle for truth.

Vacation Bible School (“VBS”) is a week-long event that is focused primarily to kids and caters to their special interests and point-of-view. Each year the church features a new, uniquely themed curriculum. Set in the early evenings, the program is convenient for parents to drop their kids off right after work and go grab a bite. In all, the program is two hours each night, for five nights with a closing program the last night of the week.

The objective of VBS is to teach kids values-based, biblical lessons while they experience fun games, engaging skits and great music. Simply put—VBS teaches kids in an atmosphere of outrageous fun. The program is geared for children aged 4-12 and divided up into age-appropriate groups.

Vacation Bible School at Open Door Baptist Church runs each weeknights during June 5th – 9th—Monday through Friday starting at 6:30 pm each night.

Register your child right away by calling the church office at 352-394-4905. Participation is FREE.
